El Born

Across Via Laietana, El Born was the medieval merchants' quarter and is now the center's most perfect balance: serious culture, shops with a point of view and terrace life on the Passeig del Born.

Santa Maria del Mar

The people's church, raised by the porters of the riverside guilds and the city's most beloved. Its clean, luminous interior is the best Gothic room in Barcelona.

Museums and palaces

The Picasso on Carrer Montcada, the Born's 1714 ruins and the Palau de la Música at the neighborhood's edge. Cultural density per square meter is hard to beat.

The promenade and terraces

The Passeig del Born concentrates the evening drink and vermouth life; the side streets hold vinyl and design shops. It is the neighborhood where the night plan presents itself.
